Commenting on the Autumn Budget, James Wild MP for North West Norfolk said:
“This is a Budget of broken promises. Labour said at the election its plans were fully funded and fully costed and yet they are putting taxes up by £42 billion which will hit working people, put up costs for businesses including pubs and shops, and increase borrowing significantly – with higher inflation and interest rates as a result.
"The government said growth was its priority but these plans are forecast to deliver lower growth than was predicted before the election.
"Putting up national insurance is a broken promise which will mean lower wages and make it harder to create jobs. Labour has also broken its pledge to protect family farms and will increase costs for food production.
“Having u-turned on its plan to include QEH in the new hospital programme review after pressure, the government must now deliver on its commitment to move swiftly and approve plans so the project can be ready by 2030.
“After more than a decade of frozen fuel duty, it is welcome the government has listened to the calls I and other MPs made to continue to support people particularly in rural areas like ours. But it is very disappointing that the Chancellor has not done anything to help over 21,000 pensioners locally who will lose their winter fuel payments and struggle to heat their homes.”
