Responding to the decision on the Wisbech incinerator, James Wild MP said:
"It is extremely disappointing that development consent has been granted for the Wisbech incinerator. I opposed this development and have supported Steve Barclay MP's campaign against the plans and the strong opposition of local residents as this is wholly inappropriate for the area, is sited near a school, would mean 300 extra lorry journeys a day, and bring health, environmental and other major concerns."
UPDATE
On 21 February 2024, the Planning Inspectorate then published the following statement
"We have removed previously published content. Clarification is being sought on the Medworth Energy from Waste Combined Heat and Power Facility Development Consent Decision. A further update will be provided in due course."
Since this statement was issued James has set out his opposition to these plans to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero and the damaging impact it would have on local communities, the environment, road links, and other issues.
On 27 February 2024, in the House of Commons James raised the strong opposition to these proposals and the inappropriate development and impacts the incinerator would have.
