James Wild MP visits local flower business, Collison Cut Flowers
James Wild, MP for North West Norfolk, recently visited Collison Cut Flowers, a local business operating in the European flower market.
James met with Diane and Philip Collison, directors of the business, alongside June Collison who first started the business in 1969 with her husband.
During James' visit, he met with members of the core team alongside seasonal workers and discussed pressures of seasonal work recruitment with Diane and Philip. Collison's employs approximately 60 core team members alongside seasonal employees in peak season.
Whilst touring the site, James visited various parts of the business which include bulb storage, flower growing areas, packing and storage facilities. Whilst visiting the various facilities, Diane and Philip spoke of their investment in automation to increase productivity and efficiency of the business such as new technology from Holland to increase packing efficiency.
James also learnt of the national businesses served from Collison Cut Flowers, with leading UK supermarkets such as M&S, ASDA and Sainsburys using Collison Cut Flower tulips and flower delivery services such as Bloom and Wild.
