Prime Minister praises “selfless dedication” of West Norfolk Autism Group volunteers
The efforts of volunteers at West Norfolk Autism Group have been recognised by the Prime Minister who said “their selfless dedication to making a difference in their community is inspiring”.
The comments came in a letter from Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP to James Wild MP for North West Norfolk congratulating him on completing his fifth London Marathon run last month to raise funds for the charity.
James took his marathon medal along as he presented the letter to Karan McKerrow, Chair of the Trustees, at one of the Group’s board games and arts and craft activities session on Saturday at the 12th King’s Lynn Scout Hut in Gaywood. This is just one of the wide range of activities offered to child and adult members and their families including coffee morning, swimming and roller skating.
Commenting James said:
“I decided to raise funds for West Norfolk Autism Group because it is a small, local charity and I was delighted to hear from Karan and volunteers about how the generous donations will help their important work. Having the Prime Minister acknowledging the difference they make to many families is well-deserved.”
Commenting Karan McKerrow, Chair of Trustees, said:
“Everyone at the Saturday Club was absolutely delighted to meet James to thank him for his fantastic efforts in running the London Marathon for the West Norfolk Autism Group. James managed to raise £3900 which is 10% of what we need to raise a year, so that’s brilliant for us and we’d like to thank everyone who supported James and donated. We’d also like to thank the Prime Minister for his very kind letter.”
James’ run raised £3,750 for the West Norfolk Autism Group which supports around 200 families across West Norfolk.
