Grimston Road - plans for potential closure paused for review of options to reduce local disruption
James Wild, MP for North West Norfolk has raised concerns about planned road closures on Grimston Road, South Wootton.
Today Norfolk County Council confirmed to James and local councillor that they would pause plans on the new roundabout for the Knight’s Hill Development that would have caused major disruption and urgently consider alternative options.
The series of planned closures between September and December are the result of a roundabout being built as part of work on the Knights Hill housing development. The proposed closures were due to “existing road construction does not have sufficient depth to achieve the road surface levels without completely digging out the existing carriageway” as a Q&A sheet from Norfolk County Council explains.
Additional concerns regarding the volume of traffic through Castle Rising have also been raised.
James will continue to engage with Norfolk County Council on the plans in order to minimise impact on local residents and businesses.
