During Treasury questions in the House of Commons, James urged the government to back the Ely Junction upgrade project that will deliver more passenger services including to Lynn as well as freight services.
In a recent letter, the Transport Secretary said“this government is committed to delivering economic growth, and I agree that projects such as the Ely Area Capacity Enhancement and upgrades to Haughley Junction could do just that.”
James will continue to press ministers to back a project which the last government said it would support as part of the changes to HS2 project.

Tulip Siddiq, Treasury Minister
"As the hon. Member will know, the Chancellor listens carefully to everything that is said in the Chamber, and I am sure that she has noted what he has said."
