North West Norfolk MP James Wild has been appointed as a Shadow Treasury minister by the new Leader of the Conservative Party Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP.
As Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, James’ role in the Shadow Treasury team includes covering the UK tax system including business and personal taxes, energy environment and climate taxes, and investment zones.
Since being elected MP for North West Norfolk, James has worked to attract investment to the area and supported local businesses to promote exports, reduce regulation, support grant applications, and promote job opportunities. This role will enable him to continue to represent interest of local people and businesses on economic issues.
Commenting James said:
“I am very pleased to have been appointed Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. I am looking forward to making the case for an approach to tax that encourages investment and enterprise and holding the government to account for its plans for higher taxes, borrowing, and lower growth.
“Talking to businesses locally since the Budget I know there is plenty to do highlighting the government’s damaging national insurance increases, Family Farm Tax, and higher costs for our hospitality businesses.
“I very much enjoyed my role as Shadow Education Minister as part of the team arguing for better SEND provision, opposing Labour’s education tax, and ensuring the improvements in reading, maths, and science in recent years are protected.”
