James Wild MP has welcomed the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s initiative to explore plans for new, energy efficient modern swimming and fitness facilities in King’s Lynn and Hunstanton.
Aligning with James’ ongoing commitment to regeneration in North West Norfolk, the plans aim to replace the St. James’ Swimming Pool and Oasis Leisure Centre with modernised, sustainable centres that cater to local needs.
The Borough Council plans to evaluate options for replacing St. James’ with a new pool at Lynnsport or another town-centre site and redeveloping the Oasis Leisure Centre near Hunstanton seafront. James previously supported a Levelling Up Fund bid for a new Oasis centre.
Commenting on the plans, James Wild MP said:
“These proposals are an exciting opportunity to deliver modern, energy-efficient facilities that provide high-quality swimming and fitness options. Investing in accessible and sustainable leisure centres is essential to improving community health promoting active lifestyles.
"I welcome these ideas, and will work with the council to ensure these plans are best tailored to local needs.”
The next phase will include feasibility studies, detailed planning, and community engagement to determine the best way forward. James is ready to support for this initiative, recognising its potential to benefit the health and sustainability of the local community.
