James Wild, MP for North West Norfolk, recently visited Ravago Building Solutions UK at its headquarters on Estuary Road in King's Lynn to learn more about the multinational company’s innovative manufacturing processes, sustainability achievements, and contributions to the local community.
During a tour of the facility with Plant Manager, James Curson, and UK and Ireland Commercial Director, Joan Ferrer, James observed first-hand the production of Ravago’s market-leading extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation products. Their products materials are widely used in residential and well-known commercial constructions, such as in the ‘green rooves’ of Google’s London Headquarters and the Bloomberg building, as well as in supermarket delivery vehicles across the UK.
James also praised Ravago’s commitment to sustainability, particularly in its "Operation Clean Sweep" initiative. Using its dust capture technology, Ravago has successfully eliminated all production waste, while also harnessing renewable energy to power its operations.
Beyond its 19 manufacturing sites across Europe, it has had over 65 years of history in King’s Lynn and made a significant impact on the local economy by creating skilled jobs and supporting various community initiatives. These have included sponsoring local sports teams, organising food bank collections for King’s Lynn, and running educational outreach programs with nearby universities.
Following the visit, James Wild MP said:
"It was impressive to see manufacturing in action at Ravago Building Solutions' headquarters in King’s Lynn, producing market-leading foam insulation that is used in residential construction, commercial sectors, and even supermarket delivery vans across the country. I was pleased to learn about their strong commitment to sustainability, achieving zero production waste and utilizing renewable energy. Alongside creating skilled jobs, Ravago demonstrates a clear dedication to supporting the local community."
As Europe’s largest producer of XPS insulation, Ravago’s headquarters in King’s Lynn play an important role in both its local and wider economy. Having already launched a business survey before the New Year, and with supporting the local economy an integral part of his plan, the visit provided a valuable opportunity for James to learn more about the business landscape in the area, and how he can best support it through his work.
